July - Summer Social Geoffs Bar - 30th July
NETWORKING is the single most powerful marketing approach to accelerate and sustain success for any Business!
Do you have an area of focus or do you let networking just happen naturally? In business, if you want anything to have a return, you need to plan your path, pick your tools, and leave as little as possible to chance!
In the heyday of the Celtic Tiger, many companies just sat back and waited for the phone to ring, but now the phones have stopped ringing and pro-activity is required. We need to get out there, meet people and expand our circle of contacts.
Network Waterford is holding a social Networking event on Wednesday the 30th July in Geoff’s Bar in Waterford. This is a casual event which is open to all business owners and while we understand that a lot of people are away on holidays at the moment, this is ideally suited for anyone who is still around and would like to get out there and meet potential clients in a relaxed and casual setting.
As this is a networking event please remember to bring along plenty of business cards. Please contact Network Waterford President Jill Hincks, email: jill@passionforcreative.com, telephone: 051 853847 if you have any queries or please contact PR Officer Samantha Clooney on 051 357607 or e-mail: info@virtualoffices.ie

MAY - RECESSION PROOF YOUR BUSINESS!! - Terry Harmer - Ramada Viking Hotel 6pm 28th May
While the media creates a sense of panic over the economy, smart business owners are preparing to THRIVE during any economic downturn. With this economic downturn, we're already seeing two very distinct types of small business:
The first is fearful. Concerned about losing customers. Thinking of cutting back on sales and advertising. Asking themselves whether they should be reducing prices. Running a business based on this fear is a horrible place to be. Unfortunately, many of these businesses are going to face big problems
The second type of small business (unfortunately less than 4%) is already taking the required steps to thrive during a downturn or recession. They'll be the ones that emerge from all this tronger and more profitable than when the downturn started. Most will dismiss their success as 'luck.' It's not luck. It's the result of knowing precisely how to get out their and sell their business!!
Terry Harmer is a Member of the Institute of Training & Development (MIITD), a Fellow of the Sales Institute of Ireland, (FSII), a Member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland, (MMII), and a Licensed Practitioner of NLP, (NLP Prac.).
MAY - "Increasing your Productivity - some ideas to help" 26th March Ramada Viking Hotel 6.00pm
Constantly working overtime and still buried in mountains of work?
How many times have you waltzed into the office in the morning and greeted the to-do-list waiting on your desk with confidence, sure that you'll get through it all today? Yet somehow, by late afternoon you've only checked off one or two items on the list. You understand the basics of time management. You make your lists, break big projects down into small tasks, and focus on your job. Yet time still manages to creep away from you at work, leaving goals unmet and projects undone.
The guest speaker for this event is Martin Byrne from LMI (Leadership Management Ireland) who has almost 25 years experience in the area of people development. He spent 17 years as an officer in the Defence Forces before resigning and moving to the private sector. Within the private sector he specialised in Human Resources and Industrial Relations consultancy. This was followed by a senior position in the public sector where he was involved in the formulation and implementation of a number of corporate strategies. He joined LMI in 2004 and in that time has built a client base in a number of sectors.

isolation in their local community and assisting that person to take

FEBRUARY - RUN YOUR OWN BUSINESS? ... DO YOU HAVE A PLAN WHEN IT COMES TO NETWORKING? Wednesday 27th, 6.00 pm, Dooley's Hotel
With this in mind Waterford Network will host a pure Networking event which will take place on the 27th of February in Dooley’s Hotel at 6.00 pm. with tea coffee and finger food being served. If you are in business for yourself then you can’t afford to miss this event!!
Networking is most productive when you make a commitment to its principles. By attending a networking event and making that commitment you develop strong relationships with your networking colleagues; you really learn about their businesses and how good they are at providing the products and services they market. And they learn all about you and how well you run your business. This knowledge and confidence is the real strength of networking. People like to deal with people, not with institutions. We are all more comfortable dealing with somebody we know and, more importantly, someone we feel best knows us and therefore has our best interests at heart. But remember networking is a reciprocal process in which you share ideas, leads, information, advice, brainstorms, introductions and friendships.
Why not come join us in Dooley’s Hotel on Wednesday the 27th February at 6.00 pm, for a great fun networking evening with finger food. As this event is a networking event please remember to bring along plenty of business cards. Please contact Network Waterford President Jill Hincks, email: jill@passionforcreative.com, telephone: 051 853847 to confirm booking or Contact Samantha Clooney on 051 357604. Door fee: €10 non-members, €5 students
JANUARY - WHERE WILL YOUR BUSINESS BE IN 90 DAYS? Seamus Murtagh of ActionCoach Wednesday, 30th January, 6.00 pm, Ramada Viking Hotel
As another New Year dawns, and as we wave goodbye to 2007 no doubt with a glass of Champagne in one hand and a party popper in the other, our thoughts turn to our aspirations for 2008. Traditionally, most of us will consider some area we would each like to improve or change not only in our personal life but also in our business life. The beginning of a new year is also the time we tend to reflect on how our business has performed the previous year and what we would like it to achieve over the next 12 months.
